HYDERABAD: Soon, villages in Telangana will witness a transformation with the establishment of industrial parks on a par with those found in urban areas. The panchayat raj department has given its nod to a proposal from the Industrial Area Development Authority (IADA) to create these parks in rural settings.

In the first phase, four districts—Kamareddy, Medchal, Sangareddy, and Rangareddy—will see the development of parks spread over 150 acres each. Notably, 10 per cent of each park’s space is earmarked for women entrepreneurs, and plans are underway to ensure that every constituency hosts at least one industrial park exclusively for women.

Expected benefits

This initiative is projected to boost land values in the villages and generate a steady stream of income for local communities. By providing job opportunities for youth and reinforcing the rural economy, establishing these industrial parks has been recognised as essential for sustainable development.

IADA will manage key aspects of the project, including land acquisition, road construction, and other infrastructural developments required for setting up the industrial units. Officials are actively identifying suitable land in each village and mandal, focusing primarily on govt-owned parcels while also considering some private land options.

In addition to these developments, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation currently oversees 156 parks covering roughly 29,000 acres in various industries, highlighting the state’s ongoing commitment to industrial growth.

Urban design consultants said this multi-pronged approach will not only aim to bridge the urban-rural divide but also strengthen Telangana’s overall economic framework by nurturing local entrepreneurship and fostering a more inclusive growth model across the state.

2 villages nominated

Meanwhile, the state govt has nominated Mall village in Rangareddy and Mudigonda in Khammam as potential special category villages. Central authorities, having already inspected these villages for eligibility, are expected to soon announce the special category designations.

Villages that receive this status will be eligible for award packages of Rs 1 crore, Rs 75 lakh, or Rs 50 lakh, depending on their category.
