Local hotels earn awards

IHG Hotels & Resorts has recognized Sprague Hotel Developers with the coveted 2024 Owner and Operator Excellence Award — a distinction reserved for owners and management companies operating three or more hotels that have earned IHG’s top accolades. Only 31 companies across the region achieved this honor in 2024.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by IHG Hotels & Resorts with the 2024 Owner/Operator Award,” Janeen Sprague, president and CEO of Sprague, said in a news release. “This recognition reflects the dedication and pride our teams bring to their hotels and to every guest who walks through our doors. It’s a true testament to the hard work of our employees, the leadership of our managers, and the loyalty of our guests. I’m deeply grateful to be surrounded by such outstanding individuals. Our commitment to delivering exceptional service and guest satisfaction remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Destini Best, franchise performance manager for IHG Hotels & Resorts, said Sprague’s hotels are deserving of the honor, in a news release.

“Janeen’s hotels and the culture of excellence throughout her company is noteworthy. I am impressed that Sprague Hotel Developers has secured an Owner Operator Award for 2024 performance with their Greenwood hotel achieving a Torchbearer Award, Edinburgh’s hotel achieving a Target Triumph Award and their Noblesville hotel winning a Spirit of True Hospitality Award. This is hard to do, and I congratulate Janeen and her team for their continued focus on excellence!”

Duke Energy celebrates National Lineworker Appreciation Day

On April 18, Duke Energy celebrated National Lineworker Appreciation Day – a day to recognize the service, commitment and sacrifices of lineworkers, team members who are critical to ensuring customers have access to safe and reliable electricity.

Why it matters: Lineworkers provide an invaluable service to communities. Among the first to respond after storms to help ensure public safety, they frequently work in challenging conditions including extreme weather and heights to restore power and keep the lights on.

Lineworkers support the growth of industries and businesses in Duke Energy’s service areas in Indiana by helping build and expand power infrastructure. Line technicians install new power lines, transformers and other equipment to reliably accommodate growth. This work is increasingly important as communities continue to grow and new and existing businesses expand.
