Red Mountain winery sold with inventory sale to benefit WSU Tri-Cities
Hamilton Cellars, one of the oldest wineries on Red Mountain, has been sold to a Seattle-based property management company. And sales of the winery’s remaining vintages will be used to support students pursuing careers in viticulture, business and health care.
The winery announced its Visionary Vintage Wine Sale on April 24. Proceeds will go toward the Stacie & Russ Hamilton Foundation at Washington State University Tri-Cities for student scholarships.
“This sale is not just a way to celebrate my parents’ legacy – it’s a way to invest in the future,” said Craig Hamilton, son of winery founders Stacie and Russ Hamilton, in a release. “We’re proud to support WSU Tri-Cities and the students and faculty who represent the next wave of innovation and leadership.”
The winery was listed at $3 million on the market for months following Russ Hamilton’s death more than a year ago. The 10.5-acre property, which includes a tasting room, production facility and private residence, was sold to Leschi Lakeside Property Management in “a rare and complex Red Mountain acquisition,” according to the release.
Leschi manages residential and commercial properties in the Seattle area, including vacation rentals, according to the company’s website.
Details about the sale price and what Leschi plans to do with the property were not provided. The company did not immediately respond to the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business’ request for comment.
The wine sale will be conducted only at the winery, with all online ordering paused. All wine must be bought by the case, which contains 12 bottles.
Cases are being sold for $100 each, with discounts for those buying 10 or more cases.
A Hamilton “Tribute” series wine case is available for $40.
The wine sale begins April 25, from noon to 5 p.m. and will continue Thursday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. until June 8. Go to: hamiltoncellarswinesale.com.
