Revised property tax can be paid even with previously received bills in Chandigarh, ET RealEstate
CHANDIGARH: Revised property tax can now be deposited at e-Sampark centres in the city, even with previously received tax bills. SPIC, under the aegis of the IT department of the administration, in collaboration with the municipal corporation, has upgraded the system with the decreased revised property tax amount.
As per the completed technical exercise, the revised tax amounts were added to the system, following which the computer programme system will pick the new revised rates against each property through its allotted IDs.
The employees of the tax branch collaborated with the employees concerned of the SPIC and completed all the formalities related to adding the revised amount to the system, so that taxpayers do not face any problems at any e-Sampark centre.
The amounts were fixed and added against taxpayers’ IDs with the relevant amount, and thus, if someone did not receive the fresh tax bill, they can also pay the amount with the newly revised property tax rate.
Since majority of the property taxpayers pay through e-Sampark centres, the MC remains in constant touch with the SPIC for tax-related work and settling any issues that may arise during the process. The SPIC takes charges for paying the property tax. In the case of depositing property tax for the residential category, the MC pays the amount, while in the commercial category, taxpayers pay the property tax to the SPIC.
The MC has kept three modes of payment for the property tax. Taxpayers can deposit the tax amount through e-Sampark centres, through online mode by debit and credit cards, and through demand draft. There is no provision of any fee counter in the MC premises to make the property tax payment in cash.
