New networking group helps businesses thrive
POCATELLO — A new networking group, CONNECT Idaho, is gaining momentum by helping local business owners and entrepreneurs grow their connections and expand their businesses.
The group was launched by local businessman Morgan McKell, who serves as Senior Community Director. McKell, who moved to Pocatello two years ago, founded Strategy Zoo, which specializes in tailored marketing strategies to help companies expand.
McKell’s background includes extensive entrepreneurial experience, having founded a successful cell phone repair business that grew across multiple states, as well as a digital marketing agency.
McKell launched the Pocatello group six weeks ago as an offshoot of the highly successful CONNECT Utah network. After recognizing a need for more casual and genuine networking opportunities, he brought the concept to eastern Idaho — the first of its kind outside of Utah.
The “CONNECT Idaho – Southeastern” group meets weekly at Señor Garcia’s Puerto Vallarta, 1600 Pocatello Creek Road. The group offers a welcoming environment where business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals can meet and visit without the pressure of membership fees or contracts.
“There are no membership fees and no need to RSVP before you come,” McKell said. “We just ask that you buy a lunch to support the restaurant hosting us. Come check it out. It’s all about building real, authentic relationships.”
Every attendee gets a chance to give a quick elevator pitch at the luncheon each week, free of charge. For those who want more time to showcase their business, there’s also the option to sign up for a 15-minute Business Overview, including a Q&A, for a $35 fee.
“CONNECT Idaho is inclusive — from realtors to roofers. We welcome all types of businesses,” McKell said. “The more we understand what you do, the easier it is to send you the right referrals. We’ve already seen members grow from part-time to full-time thanks to the connections they’ve made here.”
While CONNECT Idaho is new, McKell is no stranger to fostering professional growth throughout the region. Nearly a year ago, he launched East Idaho Mastermind, a mindset, leadership, and business group that meets on Monday mornings at 7 a.m. at Gate City Coffee. He has already drawn an impressive network of business owners across the region.

The two groups complement each other well; however, East Idaho Mastermind focuses more on leadership and personal development, while CONNECT Idaho centers on relationship-building and direct referrals.
Looking ahead, McKell hopes to expand CONNECT Idaho to neighboring cities.
“The goal is for CONNECT Idaho to host groups in neighboring cities such as Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and beyond,” he said. “We already have interested businesses out of Idaho Falls.”
