Golf Business News – DP World Tour unveils wind energy partner
The DP World Tour has signed a new partnership agreement with Vestas, a leader in sustainable energy solutions in a multi-year deal that runs until the end of the 2027 season.
Headquartered in Denmark, Vestas is the energy industry’s global partner on sustainable energy solutions, helping create more secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems across the world with wind energy. With customers in 87 different countries, Vestas is well set to utilise the unique footprint of the DP World Tour – with tournaments in 26 countries this season – to showcase its innovative products and services in key growth markets.
As part of the agreement Vestas will also become the Tour’s Official Wind Energy Solutions Partner, and an Official Partner of four tournaments on the DP World Tour schedule each season.
The DP World Tour is the first and only Tour in professional golf to sign the United Nations Sport for Climate Action Framework and pledge to be net zero carbon by 2040. A core part of the DP World Tour’s Green Drive strategy is using tournaments as test beds for the latest sustainable power solutions with solar, hydrogen and battery power utilised so far to power infrastructure such as broadcast productions and hospitality suites.

“We are excited to partner with the DP World Tour. This collaboration allows us to showcase our brand on a global stage and engage with key stakeholders through shared experiences” said Laurence Paquette, Vice President, Global Marketing of Vestas. As Official Wind Energy Solutions Partner, Vestas will be using its extensive experience of wind power and other renewables to advise the DP World Tour on the latest energy efficient technologies.
Max Hamilton, Executive Commercial Director of the DP World Tour, added: “Vestas are regularly referenced as one of the most sustainable companies in the world and our own sustainability credentials were a big draw for them when deciding on their next sports partnership. We have a strong platform for authentic and impactful storytelling, with a recent survey of our fans telling us that they want sports rights holders to take a lead on climate change. This partnership will also allow the Tour to utilise Vestas’ expertise to analyse and optimise how we power our tournaments.
“The DP World Tour’s partnership family is enjoying strong momentum, with annual revenues growing by 90% in just five years, and this partnership is another example of a globally minded organisation recognising the power of golf to grow its brand internationally.”
