Date set for opening of Lewisburg Wawa | Local Business News
Lewisburg, Pa. — The wait is nearly over! The Lewisburg Wawa store will open on Thursday, June 5, according to company spokesperson Alyson Mucha.
The opening will include a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. and a “Hoagies for Heroes” hoagie building competition celebrating local everyday heroes. Doors will open at 8 a.m.
The Lewisburg Wawa store, located at 113 Business Lane in Kelly Township, is located off Route 15 at the intersection with Zeigler Road.
“We are excited to continue our expansion in central Pennsylvania with our first store in Union County located in Lewisburg” said Jim Magee, director of store operations.
“We look forward to continuing to bring our unique brand of fresh food, beverages and convenience to new areas and to further our commitment to providing the community with not only a new level of convenience but a strong, committed community partner,” Magee added.
This will be Wawa’s second location in north central Pa. The first location in the area opened in January on Maynard Street in Williamsport.
Mucha previously confirmed locations will open this fall in Coal Township and Upper Augusta Township, near Sunbury, in Northumberland County. Construction began several weeks ago on the location at Fourth Street in Upper Augusta Township. The construction at the Coal Township location began several months ago at a 1.5-acre lot across from the Walmart Supercenter.
The new stores are part of Wawa’s expansion plans for central Pa. Wawa plans to open 40 new stores in the next five years, with five to seven serving the central Pa. area market as it expands its footprint along the Susquehanna River, according to a release.
The chain, which is headquartered in Delaware County, also is planning to build stores along Route 15 in South Williamsport, several in Centre County, and one in Danville, Montour County. The state is providing grant funding for a traffic light on Route 15 where Wawa eventually will be built in South Williamsport.
