LUCKNOW: Tightening further the noose on Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Ltd, the state govt on Tuesday constituted a high-powered committee to look into various charges and anomalies that surfaced during the preliminary inquiries against the group.

The nine-member committee, to be headed by Lucknow’s divisional commissioner, will go through a five-point agenda set forth by the govt.

The principal secretary of the housing department, P Guruprasad, has asked the seven-member committee to submit its findings within 15 days. Apart from the divisional commissioner, DM , vice chairman of LDA, LMC, chief town and country planner of the state, director Awas Bandhu, and a nominated senior officer from the stamps and registration department are going to probe the charges.

The scope of the probes includes checking if the private developer used govt land, roads, or gram sabha land without getting it transferred into their name and, if so, the charges they are liable to pay for developing the said land chunks in an unauthorised manner.

The panel will probe present status of land pledged to local housing development authority, preparing cost estimates for completing the pending works in the township, ascertaining the status of titleship of the govt land and names of the occupants, and ascertaining the status of the land deals and transactions carried out by the consortium members who partnered with Ansal Properties to sell their properties.
