Bengaluru civic body offers 5% property tax rebate till April 30, ET RealEstate

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced a 5% rebate for property owners, who pay their full property tax for the 2025–26 fiscal year by April 30. The civic body has already issued a notification urging citizens to take advantage of the rebate offer to encourage early compliance and front-load its revenues.

This comes on the heels of a relatively successful year for BBMP in 2024–25, during which it collected Rs 4,930 crore in property tax, an increase of about 25% over the previous year’s collection of Rs 3,918 crore. However, despite the spike, it fell slightly short of its target, achieving 94% of its revenue goal.

BBMP has set a target of collecting Rs 6,000 crore as property tax in the 2025–26 fiscal year.

According to the data, Yelahanka and Mahadevapura managed to exceed their annual property tax targets last year. Yelahanka, in particular, emerged as a surprise front-runner, collecting Rs 464 crore against a target of Rs 445 crore.

Mahadevapura, the city’s most lucrative zone in terms of commercial real estate and IT infrastructure, also performed commendably, collecting Rs 1,310 crore and edging past its target of Rs 1,309 crore. Mahadevapura alone accounted for over 26% of the total property tax collection in the city.
