d’s Wicked Cider closing April 26
One of the oldest cider houses in the Tri-Cities is stopping the apple presses.
d’s Wicked Cider in Kennewick announced via social media on April 17 that it would close its doors for the last time at 11 p.m. on April 26. They will maintain their normal hours until that time, though will be closed Easter Sunday.
“Come in and say goodbye, get a pint, a growler, or even a last nacho,” read the cider house’s post on Facebook. “Many thanks to you all for your love and support for this past decade.”
Founder Daniel Washam told the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business that there were multiple factors that led to the cider house’s closure. He said he plans to share those details after d’s Wicked Cider closes.
The cider maker hit the ground running after Washam and his wife Heidi found healthy demand in 2013 for the cider he started producing because they couldn’t find one Heidi had tried and loved.
In 2015, d’s annually produced 42,000 gallons of cider—an average of 3,500 gallons per month—for distribution to wineries, restaurants and stores locally and across the state. In 2016, production had grown to 8,000 to 10,000 gallons per month of its award-winning four cider varieties.
d’s opened its tasting room and bar at 9312 W in 2016 and by 2018, was distributing its ciders to multiple states across the country.
