AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron’s Pay Falls to $11.3 Million in 2024

AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron received compensation of $11.3 million in 2024, down from $25.4 million in 2023 and $23.7 million in 2022, according to the cinema giant’s proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday.

Last year, Aron received no bonus and a base salary of $1.5 million, the same salary and bonus as in the previous two years. And he received in 2023 stock awards of $5.4 million and non-equity incentive plan compensation of $4.3 million.

That was down on the $18 million in stock awards Aron received in 2023 and a non-equity incentive plan payout of $6 million. And in 2022, Aron received $16.1 million in stock awards and $6 million in a non-equity incentive plan compensation.

AMC continues to take part in an industrywide box office recovery, even as the fallout from the dual Hollywood strikes in 2023 appears to be behind the company. But AMC is still contending with a hefty debt load and changing consumer habits in the age of streaming. The cinema chain giant is also looking to refinance its borrowings to run the business as Aron looks to impress shareholders with progress on a number of fronts to ensure the survival of the company.

The SEC filing also revealed that CFO Sean Goodman received $4.78 million in total pay in 2024, compared to $6.8 million in overall compensation in 2023. And Daniel Ellis, executive vp, chief operations and development officer, saw his total pay for 2024 come to $2.2 million, down from a year-earlier overall compensation package of $3 million.
