Cox Auto Parts to discontinue long-standing automotive business | News

One of the longest standing businesses in Paintsville, Cox Auto Parts, Inc., announced the upcoming shuttering of its mainline business in automotive parts sales during the week of April 21 as the business issued a statement to its customers.

“After 112 incredible years of service and dedication, it is with deep gratitude and mixed emotions that we announce Cox Auto Parts Incorporated will be discontinuing automotive sales,” the statement said. 

According to the Cox family, the owners of the business, they consider the opportunity to operate in Johnson County a privilege and thanked their customers and employees for their dedication and hard work, respectively.

“Since our founding in 1913, we’ve been privileged to be a part of your lives, striving to deliver excellence and foster a strong sense of community,” the statement said. “Our journey has been shaped by the hard work of many and the trust of our loyal customers. We want to extend our sincerest thanks to every individual that has been part of this journey, whether as a customer, partner, or employee. Your support has meant the world to our family.

“While this chapter may be closing, the memories, stories, and relationships built over more than a century will remain with us always,” the statement continued.

This would not mark the end of the business outright, according to the statement, but a restructuring.

“This decision was not made lightly, but as times change, so must we,” the statement said. “Despite the challenges faced, Cox Auto Parts Incorporated remains hopeful for a brighter future.”

The statement said the business would cease operations as an automotive parts supplier on June 28 and stressed that the family and employees were working hard to ensure a smooth transition for ongoing customers.
