Fire destroys small business in Pewee Valley on owner’s birthday | Local News
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Fire tore through a small business in Pewee Valley early Thursday, leaving nothing but a burned out husk behind.
The fire started around 4 a.m. inside ‘The Cottage’ at Tingle’s Plants and Produce on West Highway 146, according to Pewee Valley Fire Department spokesperson Jerry Nauert. That’s just east of the Snyder Freeway.
No one was inside the building when the fire started, and no injuries were reported, Nauert said. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
According to a post on the business’s Facebook page, the building that housed a thrift store and consignment shop burned down on owner Vicki Tingle’s birthday. The post said the business lost a lot of bedding plants but will have plenty of hanging baskets on hand for Mother’s Day.
Engines from south Oldham Fire and Anchorage Middletown assisted Pewee Valley firefighters at the scene.
Oldham County’s arson task force is investigating the cause of the fire, which is standard procedure.
